Alicante Airport has excellent bus connections. The two main bus companies operating a service from Alicante airport are Alicante Aerobus and Spain’s equivalent to the UK’s National Express, Alsa. All buses are of a high standard and come complete with air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
There is only one bus stop at Alicante airport. This serves both, arriving and departing passengers. It is located right outside the departures area of the terminal on level 2.
Unlike some airports where you must purchase your tickets in advance from a kiosk or machine, at Alicante airport, you simply pay the driver when you get on the bus. Make sure you either have the exact fare or small enough bills, as the driver may not be able to give change for large denomination notes.
If you are travelling to either Alicante or Elche you will want to use Alicante Aerobus. Clearly marked with a lighted sign that reads “Aeropuerto”, these large blue buses run on a loop 24 hours per day 365 days a year. The buses are specially fitted out for travellers and have plenty of space for luggage.
The Alicante Aerobus route C6 runs every 20 minutes between the airport and strategic locations in Alicante city. It stops at the main bus terminal near the port, the railway station, and at two stops close to the city tram. The journey into the city is pleasant, as it runs along the coastline and has excellent views of the sea. It is a good way to orientate yourself with the city of Alicante, providing you don’t get off at the first stop which is Alicante Bus Station.
A ticket to or from Alicante airport costs 3.85 € and is obtained by paying the driver on the bus.
The bus from the airport to Elche operates on route 1A. It runs every 60 minutes from the airport to the centre of Elche with stops at Torrellano, Elche industrial park and several places in the city.
Route 1B: Elche-Airport -Arenales del Sol is the same as Route 1A except on its way back to the airport it makes stops in the beach towns of Playa El Altet and Arenales del Sol.
A one-way ticket on routes 1A and 1B costs 1.55 € and is payable to the bus driver.
