Alicante Airport has kicked off 2026 on a high note, recording its busiest January ever as more than 1.1 million passengers travelled through the terminal during the month.
Passenger numbers rose by almost 5% compared with January last year, highlighting continued demand for the Costa Blanca, particularly from overseas markets. International travel remained the backbone of the airport’s traffic, with close to one million international passengers using the airport in January alone.
The UK once again proved to be Alicante’s most important market, accounting for nearly 290,000 travellers, while the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium and Germany also delivered strong passenger volumes. Although domestic travel dipped slightly, overall figures still reached record levels.
Aircraft movements followed a similar upward trend. More than 7,500 flights were handled during the month, making January the busiest ever in terms of operations at the airport.
While growth across Spain’s airport network is beginning to moderate, Alicante Airport’s performance underlines its ongoing popularity as a year-round destination for international visitors.
