With an amber weather warning in place, passengers using Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport are advised to stay informed and prepare for potential disruptions.
Amber Weather Warnings Issued
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated an amber alert for the entire province of Alicante. Forecasters are predicting exceptionally strong north-westerly winds, with gusts expected to exceed 90 km/h. In more exposed areas and higher altitudes, these could reach hurricane-force speeds of up to 150 km/h.
The most volatile period is expected to be between midday and the early evening on Saturday. During these hours, the wind is anticipated to be at its most intense, creating challenging conditions for both aviation and ground transport.
Impact on Flights at Alicante-Elche Airport
As a result of the turbulent conditions, Alicante-Elche Airport is currently experiencing a knock-on effect on its flight schedule. While the airport remains operational, both arrivals and departures are seeing delays.

The severe weather is not limited to the skies. The train operator Renfe has announced significant cancellations on the Mediterranean Corridor. Due to a red alert (the highest level) in neighbouring Castellón, rail services between Alicante, Valencia, and Barcelona have been suspended. This includes several Euromed and Intercity services.
