Ryanair Implements New Alcohol Rules on UK Flights to Alicante

In an effort to prioritize the comfort and safety of all passengers, budget airline Ryanair has recently introduced new alcohol rules on specific flights departing from the UK. These measures aim to address the rising number of anti-social incidents and ensure a pleasant travel experience for everyone on board.
Restrictions on duty-free alcohol
Passengers travelling from the UK to popular destinations such as Alicante, Barcelona, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, and Tenerife South will now face restrictions on carrying alcohol purchased from duty-free shops into the aircraft cabin. Instead, duty-free alcohol must be placed in a suitable bag to be stored in the aircraft hold.
Consequences for non-compliance
Passengers attempting to conceal alcohol or failing to comply with the new regulations risk being denied boarding or removed from the flight without a refund or compensation. These strict measures have been introduced in response to recent events.
Addressing anti-social incidents
Ryanair’s decision to implement these alcohol restrictions stems from a series of “anti-social incidents” on their flights. In a notable incident in April, fifteen individuals were removed from a Manchester flight due to drunken behaviour, causing a significant five-hour delay. To ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers, the airline has expanded its measures to include the removal of passengers displaying signs of anti-social behaviour on routes to the above destinations.

A spokesperson for Ryanair emphasized that the safety of customers, crew, and aircraft remains the airline’s number one priority. By implementing these new rules and taking various preventive measures, Ryanair aims to mitigate disruptive behaviour and create a more pleasant and secure flying environment for all.
